My name is Michael and I’m a clergy alcoholic in AA
I am a Roman Catholic priest, a pastor of souls with the title of monsignor. I am also an alcoholic. A few months ago, I celebrated an anniversary of ordination. A month before that, I celebrated a more important anniversary, my fourth as a member [...]
What is codependency?
The term “codependency” was coined more than 20 years ago by authors who studied the negative impact of drug and alcohol use on families. "In working the 12-steps, my life changed.
I think differently today; I feel different today.
I am new. We have a sign at the A.A. meetings I go to that says, ’Expect a Miracle.’
My sobriety is full of miracles."

Dysfunctional family
Dysfunctional family A
dysfunctional family is a
family in which conflict,
misbehaviour and even
abuse on the part of
individual members of the

Children sometimes grow

I’m a Jewish Alcoholic in AA
My name is George and I’m a Jewish alcoholic in AA
A startling, four-color advertising poster appeared some time ago in the New York subways. Staring at the viewer was a “typical Irish cop” about to eat a luscious delicatessen sandwich on Levy’s rye bread, and the legend was “You don’t have to be Jewish to [...]
Carbohydrates Connected to Alcoholism
Researchers have found more evidence that the brain chemical serotonin is linked to alcoholism, Reuters reported.
Researchers at the Royal Ottawa Hospital in Ontario, Canada, found that alcohol increases the body’s levels of serotonin, and that some alcoholics may drink to raise serotonin. Low levels of the brain chemical also may be the reason behind why [...]

Conscious contact with a Higher Power
Step Eleven: Cultivating conscious contact with a Higher Power
In 1938, an alcoholic stockbroker named Bill W. declared his intention to write a book about an obscure new program of recovery from alcoholism. The program, which included twelve suggested steps, was unabashedly spiritual. Bill’s goal was to present this aspect of the program in [...]
